New Zealand
24th April - 21st May 2024
Project Introduction
New Zealand is a relatively new county with its only inhabitants being flightless birds for millennia, before the Polynesians came over in the 1300’s and later English settlement. Its large amount of tectonic activity forged its rugged landscape. Today, New Zealand is a vastly underpopulated, peaceful, safe, outdoorsy place and often ranks very highly on quality-of-life surveys. Its links to its former English coloniser are strong but links to other Pacific New World countries are even stronger, with real small-town US vibes throughout its urban settlements. It’s a country with a split personality and a big love for the outdoors. In this shoot, Dan drives north to south in a rental campervan to capture this small but amazing country.
Photos were taken on a Leica M262 with Leitz Lenses and metered on a Sekonic Flashmate L-308B. Original photos were selected, edited and uploaded in May 2024
